I will be celebrating my 50th in Key West the weekend of St. Patrick%26#39;s Day. How does the island natives celebrate this holiday?
Thanks

St. Paddy's Day
Oddly enough, we do it like a lot ofcommunities... We seek out one of three Irish pubs (Finnigan%26#39;s Wake, Shanna Key - a personal favorite or Irish Kevins on Duval.) Of the three, Irish Kevins is the least Irish while both Finnigans and Shanna Key come by it naturally. (My opinion only) You really can%26#39;t miss with any of the three... A good time is the objective and they%26#39;ll provide it.
St. Paddy's Day
If you are fkying in there is almost always a group of people who will meet you at the airport and give you a small welcome bag of goodies and a string or two of green beads. (You can probably pick these up at other places, too).

There is usually a St. Patrick%26#39;s Day pub crawl that starts at the South end of Duval and continues down to the Schooner Wharf Bar. I know you get a T-shirt and make stops at certain bars. I%26#39;ve seen the end result and it looks like a fun time. I haven%26#39;t heard about it yet this year, but I%26#39;m sure they will do it.
Just a sidebar note (...side-BAR?? LOL) Irish Kevin%26#39;s has Smithwick%26#39;s (pronounced Smiddick%26#39;s) on draught. Irish brew which is pretty hard to find in the states, and a very nice surprise to us last week.
