Miami Beach Hotels

I%26#39;m looking for a (not too expensive) Miami Beach hotel which has a nice beach area with umbrellas and chairs. I%26#39;m not too bothered with staying a little further up north. Can anyone help me out?

Miami Beach Hotels

When are you going because that makes a big diffference in

price. The Royal Palm is the nicest of the least expensive

hotels on the beach followed by the Surfcomer and a

little way more down the line is the Southseas. They all have

nice pools and beach umbrellas with chaie lounges. Further

north and less expensive is the Eden Roc and a Wyndam that

both have beach service adjacent to the pool areas.

Thanks for your reply! We will be staying in Miami May2-6.

The rates drop about forty to fifty percent for those dates at

the Royal Palm from the previous months. You might want to

book a hotal with a reservation that can be canceled and

then a week or so before you leave look for promotions

from the hotels or use Travelzoo, Quickbook , etc. and try

for an even better rate or hotel.

Hello Dutchie NS,

Pretty much any hotel that is on the beach has lounge chairs and umbrellas behind it along the ocean (which in some areas is actually a fair distance from the actual hotel). However, know that many (I almost want to say most) of these lounge chairs and umbrellas are owned and ';managed'; by a third-party and typically are not included in the hotel%26#39;s quoted rate.

The actual policy for using these lounge chairs and umbrellas change often and differ from hotel to hotel. For example, when we stayed at the Ritz-Carlton, the lounge chairs were included but umbrellas where $15 a day. Some hotels charge a ';Resort Fee'; or some other name they%26#39;ve come up with, and add that to the quoted price of your room (surprise!) regardless if you use the chairs or not - I%26#39;ve been told some hotel%26#39;s Resort Fees are per person (not per room) and can be fairly steep. Lastly, as I mentioned earlier, these policies change often so I%26#39;d e-mail or call the hotel directly and ask. This can add a fair amount to your daily rate as some places charge $10 for each chair and $15 for the umbrella, which is a necessity (at least for me) during the summer months.

I believe lounge chairs and umbrellas used within a hotels pool area or in their courtyard are all ';free'; and included in that hotels%26#39; normal room rate.

The beaches are all public so another option is to purchase an umbrella at say Wings (corner of Collins and Lincoln Road) and use it during your stay. You can also buy cheap-o chairs there or other places such as CVS or Walgreen%26#39;s. We also sometimes ';borrow'; a sheet from our hotel to lay on (always returning it - but many a little damp and sandy).

Hope that helps!

Cheers!
