Which Mod Resort for Teens? Carribean or POR??

anyone have an opinion on which of these would be better? we have been quoted the same price for both so its down to which will be better for a 15 %26amp; 16 year old?

and also... does anyone know where you need to go to do the little speedboats and the parasailing that they show on the disney DVD and does this cost extra and if so approx how much?

thanks

Not sure about the parasailing but imagine it needs to be a larger stretch of water than CB. However, mini %26#39;speedboats%26#39; available at both resorts. POR has more waterways to explore and river leads to DTD.

In terms of facilities and rooms, both resorts are comparable.

Chinners,

do you have to pay extra for the speedboats ? or are they part of the deal for staying at the resorts?

thanks

angela

No - you have to pay extra I%26#39;m afraid. I think they are priced by the half hour but weren%26#39;t as expensive as I thought they%26#39;d be. We took an hour and a half to go to DTD and back, plus a bit of an excursion to one of the Disney Vacation Resorts, from POR.

Bear in mind, they are not actually speedboats. You can hire various crafts but they only do about 4kts (it%26#39;s to avoid damage to the banks caused by waves). If you go any faster, you will be shot on site.

thanks Chinners...

and yeah i know they arent actual speedboats (just meant the shape of them .. my daughters want to try them out)

any idea where I would get info on the other sports stuff?

angela

I%26#39;d recommend posting a new thread called Parasailing at Disney Angela - likely to get a better response.

The boats were nice and relaxing. PS - POR also has a huge arcade, good size Disney gift shop (pricey), excellent grounds and good pools (but I guess so does CB).

However, the free boat ride to DTD makes it a little more special (20 mins). Kids would love either resort I%26#39;m sure.

Word of warning with the smaller boats - no shelter therefore watch out for the sun!

thanks again Chinners :-)

we are leaning towards POR partly because of the boats and partly because of the location near DTD so agree with you there :-)

and as we are going to be there in Feb the sun shouldnt matter (would be great if it did lol)

will have another looksee for the info on the sports stuff and then post about it again in a few days if i still cant find anything...

hope you have having a great weekend!

When are you going? Here%26#39;s some info about Port Orleans Riverside: The Riverside Mill Food Court at Port Orleans Riverside will be closed from January 2 until March 23 for refurbishment. The food court will continue to offer a VERY limited menu for breakfast and dinner and a small number of ';grab-and-go'; items at lunch during the refurbishment. Boatwright%26#39;s, the table service restaurant at Port Orleans, will continue regular breakfast and dinner service and will also offer a limited lunch menu. The food court at sister resort Port Orleans French Quarter (Sassagoula Floatworks and Food Factory) will be open as usual during the this timeframe.

Ol%26#39; Man Island Pool SLIDE - closed 1/23 - 2/2/07

Are you getting a package? I think I just read that 1 hr. of rental on the Sea Raycer boats is included in the 2007 package. Our teens rented these last Sept. and enjoyed themselves.

Parasailing - here%26#39;s some info: buildabettermousetrip.com/activity-parasaili鈥?/a>

Looks like the seven seas lagoon for parasailing (surrounded by the luxury resorts, monorail etc - next to MK).

The web site for booking is http://www.sammyduvall.com/parasailing.htm
