anyone stopping in orlando going to daytona 500

Me and my girlfriend are stopping in orlando from the 10th to the 24th, is anyone going from orlando to the daytona 500 on the 18th feb. If so what are your travel arrangements, i ahve had quotes from taxi services that are putting on a shuttle and the prices seem quite steep for a return trip. However it is picking up at 6.30am in the morning of the 500 which should mean we get to the track nice and early!!

You gotta realize its about 70 miles from Orlando to Daytona, so transport won%26#39;t be cheap, not to mention the law of supply and demand, with demand being very high for such transport that weekend.

It%26#39;s gonna be expensive, but it may still be better than trying to drive there.

What i was quoted was $90 each which i don%26#39;t mind paying cause at the end of the day there is no worrying about getting to and from there. is anyone else going from orlando out there??

Yes, we are going over, I bought the tickets for my hubby%26#39;s birthday pressie. We have hired a car but still a bit nervous about the drive over.

We have been advised to set off before 7am and to park at the mall opposite.

Yes from my understanding you should avoid a large chunk of the traffic by getting there as eraly as possible, are you collecting your tickets from will-call cause this ticket office opens at 8.00am.

I%26#39;m not going this year(been twice before and going again next year) and always drive in (well husband does!)

We generally leave Orlando around 6.30am and get to Daytona 9ish, and park in the mall opposite, It%26#39;s nice to be able to walk around and put whatever merchandise you buy back in the car rather than lugging it around allday.

Obviously the traffic is horrendous after the race but we usually sit in the car and wait a couple of hours before leaving, theres allways someone to talk to! Last time we got back to Orlando about 10.30pm.

I stopped in the Rodeway Inn last time and on race day there was a coach picking up people and taking them to the track i think it was opperated by Mears, so maybe you could check their website and see what they charge.
