Orlando Intl Airport

Hi All,

I am off to Orlando on 23/3/07 for three weeks with my wife and our three daughters, (10,8 %26amp; 6).

We will be staying in the Best Western Movieland for the first 2 weeks then moving to the Sheraton Safari (Safari Suite) for the last week. All booked through Virgin.

My question is:

what is the average time to get from disembarking the plane to clearing immigration, customs and security. We are travelling light hopefully with hand baggage only. I have heard it can be a bit of a nightmare.

We where initially worried about the Best Western Movieland as it was getting a bit of stick a few months back but it is nice to see that it has had a few Dollars spent on it.

Would appreciate an answer to my question and any other views.

Many thanks to you all.

hi merseybeans i was at the best western last week its been renovated and its very nice just had the carpark resurfaced as well thats the good news. O.I.A is a nightmare just last week they closed all the gates for a few hours cos someone had walked thru without being security checked and all hell broke loose !!!! but its still double-handling and delays even now they have been talking last week about simplifying this but just wait and see ...hope this helps.........

My personal comment might not be the same others but this was our experience in December ,flew Virgin in premium economy with my wife and two grandchildren aged 6 and 7 .All pe passengers and first class were allowed of the plane first luggage was on first carosel by the time we got there grabed a trolley went straight to immergation only 2 people in front of us ,he was a realy nice guy put us all at ease even thought id crossed out on the green card no problem we then moved to customs no line again really friendly laughing and joking with grand children we then moved on to home land sercurity who was a bit sterner as my ocupation had changed since my last visit and he picked up on that but again he was very friendly. We then got on mono rail down to luggage B cases were again on carosel gabed another trolley in the lift and down to dollar -rent-a-car only 3 people in front of us but only 1 guy serving no hassel there straight across the road in car and on our way .Time from landing untill driving out off MCO 35 mins tops .And do use the the Downtown market drop off sevice on return u wont regret it another whole day to enjoy your selves .

Hope this helps any questions just ask

OIA is in Greece, MCO is the airport in Orlando

funny the local news station refer to ORLANDO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT AS OIA, maybe im just refering as they were they didnt say mc.coy but OIA............

Thanks for that guys.

The reason for asking is that i want to surprise the kids and wife by booking a stretch limo to take us to BWM, as it is the wifes 40th birtthday the day we arrive. A1 limousine service allows 45 mins after the plane lands, so I hope we can make it. If not I suppose we can give them a ring to let them know we will be a bit late.

Nice to see good reviews about Virgin.

Once again many thanks.

On Virgin upgrade to PE and sit upstairs theres only 48-50 in twos so 25 each side the room is great the service is great and for going home and sleeping great ,and theres some good deals out there now

Nemmis you film stars lead the life of Riley. It is worth it though on long haul.

Mersey - Welcome to the forum

My view of getting thru in 45 mins is that you will be lucky - you might have to wait a bit.

Last Easter I arrived back at Birmingham airport just after two planes from Pakistan and Dubai landed - the security was heightened and we took hours to get thru.

I hope it goes well for you in the stretch limo I have used them many times but have never used the Jacuzzi yet. Nice touch and she will love it, you smoothy.

Thanks Nemmis.

We are booked in ordinary economy. we have reserved our seats but they are towards the rear of the plane so it looks like we will be one of the last off.

Nice to see you are an Islander like ourselves. Its nice to live on an Island until you try and book a holiday with the extra hassle and cost of getting to a U.K. airport

merseybeans it might be an idea to either call the limo co and tell them if u are delayed or move booking back just in case..... just a thought nice touch you smooth talking..................

Its not bad from here 1hour on car ferry to portsmouth if we drive and 1 1/2 hours max to Gatwick and yes I think flying Pe is worth every penny for the added comfort and service
