Has anyone taken the Key West Express for a day trip? Is it worth the money? Is there lots to do and see for then entire day?

I took it last year. There is lots to see but you only get a little over 4 hours there, so next time we g we will spend a night there.

I took the trip in Nov. It was very nice. Takes about 3 hours, but they have a movie playing, so the time went by quickly. Key West is great, but you have to stay overnight in my opinion. Tons of shopping, restaurants, nice beaches and turquoise water! You%26#39;ll do yourself a disservice if you don%26#39;t experience the street performers at Mallory square at sunset. They are really something else. Plus the night life is awesome. So get a room and enjoy Key West to its fullest and come back the next day. I don%26#39;t think it costs any more money for the boat if you do that. Also the Boat is practically brand new, it serves breakfast (reasonably priced) and has a bar for those interested as well as multiple TVs. I rented a car and drove back as I had to make a stop in Miami. Rented one way on the boat and one way for the car from Key West airport to Fort Meyers airport. That%26#39;s a neat drive also.
We were running from shop to bar to get it all in and then saw the Sunset at Mallory Square on our way out so I had to go back and stay the night. The Duval House was awesome with little cottages and continental breakfast by the pool or in the Gazebo and the Conch Republic never sleeps, we were entertained the entire time..Mallory Square @ sunset is a whole chapter to write about and then I had to go for FantasyFest Key West at Halloween and could write a whole book on that event..Gotta Love Key West. Keep an eye to the weather. A friend of mine took the trip and due to adverse weather the boat did not return and they had to take a loooong bus ride back to Ft Myers.
I%26#39;ve taken this trip twice. The first time we just did it in a day and it was much too short. Like everyone else has said, you only get about 4 hours there and it%26#39;s really not enough. Key West comes to life at night and that is something you just need to see once in your lifetime!! This last time we went down, we stayed the night at a great bed %26amp; breakfast and had so much fun. I would 100% recommend spending the night. It doesn%26#39;t cost any extra for the boat trip to come back the next night. Just let them know your plans when you check in on the way down there.
Sometimes in the paper they will have a coupon for $69 round trip if you book 8 days in advance. Of course, you can%26#39;t tell what the weather will be like when you do it that way and you can%26#39;t cancel with any kind of refund using the coupon, but I%26#39;d say 90% of the time the weather is fine.

One day is not enough, you should stay at least one night. Hard to find a room Jan. Feb. Been to Key West 2 times, will go again, good times, cool if you like to party a little. Ride on the Big Cat, from FMB, it%26#39;s fast and fun. When in Florida, spend some money, have some fun. see you there.
