Fort Myers or Fort Lauderdale?

Looking to visit Florida in March just to enjoy the weather, beach, and relax.

I have never been to Fort Myers or Fort Lauderdale and I%26#39;m trying to figure out which to go to. I was hoping for suggestions on which is better at this time of the year or which place is better for the beach/water/tourism. Any other southern Florida cities I am overlooking?

Thank you!!

Fort Myers or Fort Lauderdale?

Ceckel,

There are pro%26#39;s and cons either way. Ft Lauderdale is my fave but i am biassed :)

Beaches are generally better on the gulf side.

Other areas on gulf side with good or better beaches than Ft Myers - Naples, Sarasota, St Pete.

Ft Lauderdale - good beaches, shopping, boat trips, los olas blvd, etc.............other areas in south Fl (atlantic side) - Pompono, Hollywood, Boca.

Weather - Slightly warmer in S Florida when compared to Ft Myers.

Fort Myers or Fort Lauderdale?

I like them both. The east coast tends to be a little more upscale and expensive. The west coast is less expensive and more laid-back, toes-in-the sand. They both have great beaches, tourism, etc.

As far as other southern Florida cities, yes, there are lots. Just do searches for more info.

I live in Sarasota, so am prejudiced in favor of the West Coast. However, I didn%26#39;t grow up here, and chose the West Coast over the East - life is slower, friendlier, less expensive and more beautiful beaches. I might suggest you google Sarasota, and go from there. Ft. Myers is nice, but Sarasota puts you in closer range to more and better beaches and optional destinations - Tampa and Orlando, if you%26#39;re so inclined. Wherever you choose, Florida is bound to be better than Boston in March!
